Can Someone Explain What a DAO Actually Is?

I keep hearing the term "DAO" thrown around in crypto spaces, but I'm still not entirely clear on what it actually is. Is it just another type of cryptocurrency, or is it more of an organization structure? How does it actually work in practice, and why are people so excited about it? I feel like I'm missing something fundamental.

Re: Can Someone Explain What a DAO Actually Is?

I was in the same boat until I found a really clear explanation. A DAO is basically an organization that runs by rules encoded on a blockchain, so it's decentralized and governed by its members, not a central leader. Think of it like a co-op or an investment club, but everything is transparent and run through smart contracts. Members usually hold tokens to vote on decisions. I found this guide on Paybis that explains it perfectly without the jargon: https://paybis.com/blog/glossary/what-is-dao/ . It completely cleared up how they work, why they're a big deal, and even some of the challenges they face. Really helpful if you're trying to get a solid understanding.
